hi! my name is christopher oriel (i usually go by topher) and i'm 17 years old from placentia, california. i've been playing bass since 2007 when i was 12 (middle school lol). i was originally a violinist since the age of 8, but i realized 4 years later that i wasn't that great. my conductor soon switched me to a bass spot since we had a shortage, and, long story short, i became first chair by the time of our winter concert. as time went on to high school, i've been valencia high school's (yes, the same school kevin lien went to haha) 1st chair in the concert, camerata, and sinfonia orchestras, earning straight 1's every year at the scsboa festival. i've also played at disneyland's carnation plaza with the orchestras as well for 5 years in a row. and for the past 2 years, i've been included as the bass player for valencia's jazz ensemble I, which last month we went to reno for the unr jazz festival, and recently played along francisco torres from poncho sanchez's band for ou! r guest artist show. last year for our guest artist show, we played with jazz vocalist, barbara morrison. i play guitar, ukulele, bass (both upright acoustic and electric), a bit of percussion and keyboards, and i still play violin. since i'm graduating this year, i've been wondering what my next chapter of my life is gonna be. let's just say this audition fell at the perfect time. i know i'm not the best one out there. but, whatever judgement there is about my playing, i just know i put all of my
